Early Training & Education

Born and raised in Ashland, Oregon, Shaina began her violin journey at the age of five under the guidance of Kendra Law and Russian master Faina Podolnaya. Her summers were filled with performances alongside her father’s bands and at bluegrass festivals, fostering her love for diverse musical styles. At 18, she relocated to California to attend the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance under the mentorship of acclaimed violinist Wei He (currently the CEO & Artistic Director of The Juilliard School in Tianjin China).

Shaina’s career reflects her passion for exploring a wide range of musical genres and outfits. From classical to pop and everything in between, her performances captivate audiences across the globe. She has toured internationally with Barrage, Jazz Mafia, and William Close & the Earthharp Collective, and regularly travels around the world to perform. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, she is an in-demand contractor, hiring and leading ensembles as large as full symphonies for touring artists like ODESZA, Smokey Robinson and more.

Shaina is also known for creating and presenting bespoke ensembles and custom musical experiences for brands, companies, and luxury events. Shaina is the founder of Eclecta Strings, and leads Jazz Mafia's string section, the Sounds Elevated string unit, and the genre-defying chamber ensemble Cosa Nostra Strings.
